why solar?
Solar energy is the most vital form of primary energy source reaching the earth’s surface. It has been powering the air movement, growth of living organisms, and many other activities on earth for the past 4.5 billion years, and is expected to do so for many years to come. It is the single major primary energy source that dwarfs the other types and hence has the largest potential to be harnessed by human being. In the process of utilising solar energy, no harmful waste or emission is resulted.
how does solar photovoltaic work?
There are two key methods to exploit solar energy. One way is by absorbing the heat from the solar radiation – solar thermal; and the other technique is by capturing the photons in the sunray and convert them directly into electricity – solar photovoltaic. Photovoltaic cells are semi-conducting materials specially manufactured to energize (and hence freeing) the electronics inside the semi-conductor by energy from the photons.
